YOU DON’T SPEAK
by Karissa Lindsay
you don’t speak
a psychic told me you just like to be around me
and that's nice to know
i drive with my eyes closed
i never crash
not once
i see better in the dark
all my other senses light up the dashboard
when i go the airport i don’t bring luggage or a passport
i often miss my flight
or end up on a flying yacht
and i think i might like that better than flying economy
here i am again at the junior high bus stop at age 47
or walking down a random street over and over again
the one i never walked on when we lived in that town
are these portals to somewhere?
i wonder what kind of magic lives there?
i promise i’ll try not to be too angry with you in the morning
when you do something to really piss me off
i know you’ve forgotten it even happened
your memory was erased
in another realm
where rules don’t exist
but 3 moons in the sky do
call me in the morning
paint me the story
where we went
what we did
who was there
see you in my dreams
and i’ll see you in yours
